SOCK CATS

With temperatures dipping into the low 50’s at night here in the Pacific Northwest, I wanted to share with you some items to get you thinking about autumn. I am a cat lover at heart and decided to try my hand at making some sock cats after pouring over old pictures from books and magazines.  Each cat has his own distinctive look and there are 3 available.  They are made from my own design with no pattern used and measure roughly 6 ½” H x 3 ½” w and are stuffed with dark wool and other dark fabric snippets.  They have old button eyes and a wool strip around their necks and each have a long braided tail.  They sit up nicely and have some weight, making them poseable as well.  I just love them sitting together in their twig chair!!   Please note that these are not toys and are made for display only.

PRIM PATCH PUMPKIN

Pumpkins are some of my favorite things to display during the fall, and what better way to do that than with a pumpkin you can keep out all year long!  This pumpkin is also my own design and measures 9” H  (including stem) x 6” W,  and is made with heavy osnaburg fabric, painted  and stained with my special spice mixture and firmly stuffed with fabric snippets, making it quite heavy.  It has a large stick for a stem, and is embellished with two stained osnaburg patches and some bark covered wire at the top.  It will come signed and dated by me and would look lovely with some dried bittersweet in an old stoneware crock.

JACK HANGER  

I have many favorite pattern designers, and Netty Lacroix is one of them!  Her designs are so wonderfully simple and evoke a true primitive feeling!!  I have most if not all of her patterns and this little pumpkin is among my favorites!  I have called him Jack and he is a little pumpkin hanger that you can hang from a peg rack, or a knob on a special cupboard.  He measures 8” H (including the wire hanger) x 4 ¾” W, and is painted and distressed osnaburg, with a patch nose, patches and old buttons for eyes, a stitched mouth, and a real stick for his stem.  Heavy rusty wire is used for his hanger and he will come signed and dated by me with a hand lettered tag as well

CORNELIUS CROW  

I love crows and have many wonderful patterns by some amazing artists which I love to make!  One of these is a crow make-do by Hazelruthe.  I call this crow Cornelius and he is a very scholarly and distinguished looking fellow!  He stands 12” H x 16” T, and is made from heavy painted osnaburg, firmly stuffed and distressed and mounted on a painted old wooden spool.  He has heavy painted canvas wings, and a painted, pointed hat made from the same fabric, with glass beads for eyes.  He will come with a hand lettered tag that is signed and dated by me
