SEWING BIRD 

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner and spring not too far behind, I have created some items in keeping with both. My first offering is a sweet Sewing Bird, fashioned from some vintage cotton fabric in a lovely shade of red. The bird is firmly attached to an old textile bobbin and balances nicely on its own. I have embellished it with lots of old and new pins, an old rusty needle with thread, old MOP buttons and glass beads for eyes. Sewing Bird is 9 ½” tall x 8 ½” wide and was made using a wonderful pattern by Sweet Liberty Homestead, and will come signed and dated by me.

I just LOVE Hearts, don’t you?? And not just for Valentine’s Day, but for everyday! My Coverlet Heart, from a very favorite pattern by Walnut Ridge Primitives, is my next offering. I’ve used a piece of reproduction upholstery fabric in a lovely design and attached it to a frosted candlestick. The makedo stands 14” tall x 6” wide, and is embellished with lots of unique accessories…..an old MOP buckle for a floss holder, a beautiful MOP button in a flower design, glass headed pins, rusty pins and a stack of MOP buttons and a string of them as well. This is a one of a kind piece and will come signed and dated by me!

SOCK CATS

My Sock Cats would LOVE to be your Valentine!! They have been made from new socks, firmly stuffed with leftover fabric snippets from this and that and have the sweetest faces!! I’ve done each one differently, so please specify the left or right when you inquire. They both have tan buttons for eyes, and old red wool ties as well as red noses. They stand 6” tall and have 6” long tails, braided with leftover sock material. They would look wonderful tucked just about anywhere and promise you will LOVE them!!! They are my own pattern and will come with a signed and dated tag

COVERLET HEARTSTRINGS

My final offering for the month is my Coverlet Heartstrings, made with some lovely reproduction coverlet pieces in wonderful shades of very dark blue, red, and tan. The hearts are backed with osnaburg and have been aged, stuffed firmly, and finished with tiny x’s all around. They are sewn together and pieces of stained twill tape have been hand sewn to them for their hangers. They measure 31” long from end to end and can be used on chair backs, wreaths, hanging shelves, cupboards, or you decide!!!
